Cannon Township sues consulting firm it says 'exacerbated opioid crisis’ WZZM

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Cannon Township has filed a lawsuit against one of the world’s largest consulting firms for “knowingly perpetuating the opioid crisis.’’ The federal lawsuit against McKinsey & Co. comes more than two months after Michigan and other states reached a $573 million settlement with McKinsey, which helped opioid companies promote their drugs. “McKinsey’s method of aggressive marketing of opioids to prescribers has demonstrably exacerbated the opioid crisis,’’ the lawsuit claims. “McKinsey continued consulting to increase the sale of opioids despite the nationwide epidemic.’’ Cannon Township is located in Kent County and bills itself as "one of Michigan's most scenic and enjoyable places to live and visit.'' Cannon Township Supervisor Steve Grimm declined comment, as did the attorney who filed the class action complaint.  Several cities and counties in the U.S. have filed similar action against McKinsey, alleging it worked with pharmaceutical manuf...

Court Blasts Drugmaker Endo For Trying To 'Improperly Corrupt' Opioid Trial: NPR News

A state court in Tennessee has punished Endo Pharmaceuticals for improperly withholding a vast trove of documents relating to the sale and marketing of its opioid medication Opana ER. The judge presiding over the civil trial also concluded the drugmaker and its attorneys made at least a dozen false statements during the pretrial fact-finding process. "It appears to the court that Endo and its attorneys, after delaying trial, have resorted to trying to improperly corrupt the record," wrote Chancellor E.G. Moody in a judgment issued on April 6. Endo denies wrongdoing. In a statement emailed to NPR the company said it will appeal the judgement. But Gerard Stranch, one of the attorneys suing the drugmaker on behalf of local governments in Tennessee, said Endo and its lawyers "conspired to hide the truth" over a period of years as the fact-finding phase of the trial proceeded. "[Endo's] lawyers crossed the line and worked with the company to subvert the court...

Anti-Vax Activists Are Quietly Bending State Politics To Their Will: Vice News

South Carolina State Representative Bill Chumley was feeling vindicated. His many suspicions about COVID-19 vaccines, he told VICE News, appeared to have been justified.  “I called my doctor early this morning,” Chumley said, after the news broke that the FDA has paused use of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine over reports of six patients developing rare and serious blood clots two weeks after getting the vaccine. “His comment was that he’s more convinced than ever.” So is Chumley. That’s why, on March 2, he was one of the sponsors of South Carolina’s “Vaccine Bill of Rights,” a resolution stuffed with misinformation and conspiratorial language based on model legislation from a medical fringe group that’s become notorious in recent months.  Legislators in at least five states, VICE News has found, have introduced a so-called “Vaccine Bill of Rights.” The text of these bills is strikingly similar for a reason: They’re all based on a document released in January by a group ...

Exclusive: Biggs offers bill banning federal vaccine passports: The Hill

House Freedom Caucus Chairman Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) on Thursday introduced a bill that would bar federal government agencies from issuing or requiring "vaccine passports," according to a copy of the legislation obtained first by The Hill. The bill, titled the "No Vaccine Passports Act," would stipulate that federal agencies could not issue standardized documentation showing an individual has gotten a COVID-19 vaccine nor could they require proof of a COVID-19 vaccine to access federal grounds. "Vaccine passports will not help our nation recover from COVID-19; instead, they will simply impose more Big Brother surveillance on our society," Biggs said in a statement to The Hill. Biggs cited Florida Gov.  Ron DeSantis 's  move last week  to sign an executive order outlawing vaccine passports, calling him "an early leader" on the subject and saying his legislation would build off that order. The bill has 18 co-sponsors, most of which are members ...

Texas governor bans vaccine passports from being required in state ABC News

Thats Right States like Texas and Florida got the Vaccine Passport Conspiracy from Del Bigtree.  https://abc7.com/politics/texas-governor-bans-vaccine-passport-requirement-in-state/10491161/ AUSTIN, Texas -- Gov. Greg Abbott issued an executive order Tuesday morning prohibiting state agencies or political subdivisions in Texas from creating a "vaccine passport" requirement. Conversation has grown around  vaccine passports recently as an option that can be used for travel or even eating out . They are typically described as an app with a code that verifies if someone has been vaccinated or recently tested negative for COVID-19. They're already in use in Israel, and in development in parts of Europe. But Abbott shut that down as an option in the Lone Star State with Executive Order No. GA - 35 also prohibiting "organizations receiving public funds from requiring consumers to provide documentation of vaccine status in order to receive any service or enter any place....
